Active Isolated Stretching & Strengthening
Invite me come to your home to facilitate your flexibility!
When your Personal Trainer arrives for your session, we will discuss your health or performance concerns and goals and together will design a session or series of sessions to fit your needs. Every session is unique.
Active Isolated Stretching method of muscle lengthening and fascial release is a type of Stretching Technique that provides effective, dynamic, facilitated stretching of major muscle groups, but more importantly, AIS provides functional and physiological restoration of superficial and deep fascial planes .
I often find that AIS provides faster, longer lasting results than either clinical massage or myofascial release alone can provide.
A Few of the Potential Benefits
- Restores full range of motion and flexibility
- Improves posture
- Enhances athletic performance
AIS may decrease symptoms of conditions that affect movement such as: carpal tunnel syndrome, scoliosis, ALS, Parkinson’s disease, strains, sprains, tendinitis, bunions, dowager’s hump, tension headaches.
Active Isolated Stretching and Strengthening, when facilitated by a professionally trained provider, may reduce the severity of injuries, reduce recovery time, and, when used regularly, actually decreases the likelihood of injury. Stretching does not replace the need for medical attention in the case of injury or illness.
What should I expect for my session ?
Please wear loose fitting clothes as you will remain fully clothed for your session. You will actively perform movements while the personal trainer instructs, guides and gently assists with each stretch or strengthening activity. Self-care instruction is integrated into all sessions, and for optimal benefits ongoing self-care is encouraged.
How Long is an AIS session ?
AIS sessions generally last longer than massage sessions. If time is a consideration, you may schedule a specific session length. Ideally, you would allocate adequate time for all affected or contributing areas to be addressed. Up to three hours would not be unusual for a thorough first visit full body assisted stretching session or session to address therapeutic goals such as improved strength and flexibility rehab or “pre-hab” for joint replacement surgery. Three hours is the longest single AIS session time frame available from Medically Sound Mobile Massage. For limited time sessions, very specific goals will be set prior to the start of the session, such as focus on a single joint or movement and most likely will not address all involved or contributing body areas.
Does Personal Training with AIS replace Physical Therapy ?
No. AIS sessions are provided by a personal trainer. The goal of personal training is to help clients achieve fitness goals through safe and effective exercise. While many medical conditions may have symptoms alleviated through AIS, it does not replace the need for appropriate diagnosis of injuries and medical conditions and for treatment by a physical therapist. Personal trainers do not diagnose conditions nor provide physical therapy services. Physical therapists may incorporate assisted stretching as a tool in their protocols.
According to Wisconsin law Physical Therapy means: examining, evaluating, or testing individuals with mechanical, physiological, or developmental impairments, functional limitations related to physical movement and mobility, disabilities, or other movement related health conditions, in order to determine a diagnosis, prognosis, or plan of therapeutic intervention or to assess the ongoing effects of intervention. It also includes alleviating impairments or functional limitations by instructing patients or designing, implementing, or modifying therapeutic interventions, reducing the risk of injury, impairment, functional limitation, or disability, including by promoting or maintaining fitness. health, or quality of life in all age populations
